Mikki: Oh g’day mate!

Habebe: Oh G’day Mikki.. Bag? Fluffy? haha

Mikki: What’s been happening lately in the world of Habebe?

Habebe: Same as always.. Flat out with work and trying not to party too hard. Although I can’t seem to get that last one done..

Mikki: As El Presidente of Brisbane’s most prominent talent agency when it comes to dance music artists for the last few years, what’s it like managing some of the country’s best upcoming artists, and still having to run your own day to day.

Habebe: It’s a pretty non – stop workload so it always comes down to me being able to manage my time well. The boys always have something new and exciting in the works so it’s a matter of putting those ideas into projects and seeing them through to the finished product. I’m usually on my computer for over 10 hours a day and don’t mind the late night work session til 4am so I always find time to get stuff done. Plus working with guys who are my closest mates makes my job all the more enjoyable.

Mikki: The parties you guys run have become pretty well known around the valley circuit, always managing to distance yourselves from the plethora of promoter run nights, what’s the secret?

Habebe: I think for us the key is not overloading the scene with our events  and letting them get stale so we keep them to only a few times a year. And our music policy is a big one as we want to steer clear from what the rest of the scene is doing not recycling the same stuff that people can hear each week. I tell the guys to play exactly what they want so I always get a rocking set out of each of them.

Plus we all like a cheeky drink so that always helps set the mood!

Mikki: Any news on the next party?

Habebe: Next club show is May 20th at Monastery with Melbourne producers Midnite Sleaze. The guys are doing some great things at the moment with tracks signed to Roger Sanzchez’s label – Stealth, Dutch label Sneakerz and are just about to head off to the US for a tour til just before they come back for our show.

Mikki: You’ve had a couple of Aria charting tunes alongside fellow LNA artist Benny Electric, anything else in the pipeline?

Habebe: We’re just about to launch our new alias Silver Sneakerz. We’ve been working on a few singles and remixes for the past few months and have some really good shows locked in with being booked for Splendor in the Grass being the big one! Can’t wait for that!

Mikki: You’ve been in the industry longer then almost anyone, how much has changed and has it all been for the better?

Habebe: Thanks mate.. Way to make a guy feel old.. haha..

A lot has changed over the years for both the good and the bad. The scene has grown a hell of a lot since I first started which is a great thing and there is more and more for people to choose from when they go out.

But on the bad side I think punters attention span when it comes to music is a lot shorter. They really want to hear what they want, when they want rather then going our to hear new music. That was the one thing I loved about going out as a punter, being able to get lost on the dance floor listening to music that I had never heard before.

I could rant on about this for hours so I won’t get started. I will say one thing though.. Please stop asking us to play warp!

Mikki: Any advice for the would-be next Habebe?

Habebe: Work your ass off, keep your head in check and be very open minded!

Mikki: Alright homie well thanks for the time! See you on the weekend for a cointreau shot!
