Trav catches up with internationally renowned Mobin Master for an exclusive interview
Trav: Mobin! Its been a while, last time we saw you played at GPO the place was a circus. We had people dancing on the bars, and GPO turned from a nightclub into a sauna. Have you noticed you have this reaction with most of your sets around the world?
Mobin: Was a mental night at GPO as usual. The reaction depends on the crowd. Overseas, especially in the USA, they are a bit older (over 21 legal age), so a little more reserved but still very reactive. I adjust to the sound of the City, such as in Brissy where it's grinding abrasive! Yeah!
Trav: You just got back from Miami, you played in New York as well? Tell us how that went? Is it a good music scene?
Mobin: Well, the Winter Music Conference is a crazy show case of all the biggest names in the world showing off the biggest and newest tunes in their record boxes, potentially telling us where we are headed for the next year. When in Miami at the conference, you play WTF you like! New York was tres chic, with older crowds with more tribal and latin based house sounds. Played at the Pink Elephant which has an apparent ferocious door policy! That's how we like it. :)
Trav: I’ve noticed you have a LOAD of tracks coming out at the moment, how much time are you throwing into music per week?
Mobin: I don't really keep a tab, but I am pretty sure it's every spare moment. I suppose I need to keep them pumping, as you are only as good as you last tune. :(
Trav: So jimmy keeps telling me your a doctor? I’ve got this growth on my back can you sort it out?
Mobin: Jimmy???? Mate, I can sort it out, but I was certain you told me about the rash on your scrotum??!!!! Did you use the cream I prescribed?
Trav: Word on the street, your from Brisbane... Is this true? Where do you call home now?
Mobin: Haha. Well, I have lived everywhere. I did medical School at UQ in Brisbane! Adelaide even lays claim cause I lived there for a while, however, I am a born and bred Melbourne boy. Melbourne is a place called home.
Trav: Which is your favourite club to play at in Brisbane... cough cough?
Mobin: I am not a GP, I am a specialist. General Practice Oz is my fav? Ha!
Trav: What was the the feedback from your sets at GPO?
Mobin: Plenty of feedback when I dropped the mic on the floor and some drunk chick poured booze all over my record case!
Trav: And finally mikki wants me to ask, what’s your favourite meal in Brisbane, because apparently you can tell a lot about a person by what they eat!
Mobin: Me like da Chickun.
