Brett J is now recognized as one of the most technically able DJs that brings a wide variety of music to the Brisbane clubbing scene.

During his childhood, Brett was listening to such acts as Prince, Eurhythmics and the heartthrobs of the early 90s that were and once again are, New Kids on The Block. This early influence from electronic music later evolved to what we know as Dance music. His love and passion for music pushed him explore the nightclub scene in Brisbane, which lead to building a Vinyl collection (that contains a Greatest Hits from the Bee Gees) and learning the art of DJing.

His first residency was at the incredibly popular Brisbane venue, Milk Bar, where he quickly established his deep and funky house style for two years until he moved onto the GPO Hotel. Brett J is now GPO’s headline resident where his big room house sound with progressive melodies and thumping electronic bass lines is now recognized as his signature style.

Brett’s reputation and versatility has landed him a number of appearances alongside international acts like: Dave Seaman, ATFC, Miles Dyson, James Holden, Ian Carey, Andy Ward, Jon Carter, Sharam Jey, Don Diablo and prominent Australian artists like: Vandalism, Sneaky Sound System, Ivan Gough (TV Rock), Kid Kenobi, Goodwill, The Bang Gang DJs, Hook N’ Sling, Bass Kleph, Tonite Only, Bag Raiders, Van She Tech and many more. His support appearance is only overshadowed by his guest appearances in Brisbane nightclubs such as Family, Monastery, Barsoma, Trans, Embassy, Sunbar; Goldcoast nightclubs such as Elsewhere, Bedroom, Ruby Tramp, Berlin Lounge; other Queensland nightclubs like Rolling Rock (Noosa). Bombay Rock (Townsville), Soho (Cairns) and many more. In addition to this Brett’s played in interstate nightclubs such as Tramp (Melbourne), Moulin Rouge (Sydney), Famous at Home (Sydney), Candy’s Apartment (Sydney), Bloc (Sydney). Brett is one of Brisbane’s hottest festival DJ’s playing at festivals such as V-festival and Future Music Festival as well as I love sundaes and Caxton Street Seafood Festival.

In 2009 Brett J will continue his hard work performing for the hundreds of loyal partygoers that herd up the GPO stairs every weekend to lose themselves to his unique style of music. In addition to this, Brett J is pushing the Brisbane music scene even further with Nightvision Presents: a project started with fellow GPO resident Zach Salar that’s dedicated to offering a style of music not found in the normal commercial nightclubs. Nightvision Presents has expanded further, with a weekly podcast dedicated to bringing the latest dance music to clubbers and music lovers.
